The New Generation of Round Baler Belts
The heart of a modern round baler is the press belt. It enables the farmer to compress hay, straw or silage to a high density. Farms around the world have been successfully using Artemis round baler belts for years.
Making products and processes more efficient, more reliable and better is a constant challenge in agricultural engineering. Innovations in harvesting machines are not always visible at first glance, but they can be seen in direct use in the field. The new Grizzly Splice round baler belt from Artemis exceeds previous requirements.
The name Grizzly Splice makes it clear: this is an extremely resilient endless belt with an extraordinarily long product lifespan. The experts at Artemis have developed a new manufacturing process with lower energy consumption and achieved an even higher strength, a longer lifespan and excellent usage properties for the belts.
The vulcanization process for standard endless belts is very expensive. The new joining process for pre-vulcanized open-ended belts now makes it possible to bypass the costly and energy-intensive vulcanization process.
The new process makes it possible to make production processes even more flexible. At the same time, savings in energy and production capacities are achieved.
This solution was achieved by a new type of production for this product worldwide: the sewing process. The new production process is innovative because the belt ends are joined mechanically and at the same time the joining seam is optimally protected by embedding it in the rubber cover.
Resource efficiency is an important factor in production. In this way, Artemis and every end customer of this new product contributes to greater sustainability. The new belt connection ensures greater belt durability for the customer, while also reducing the carbon footprint, for example by reducing the energy required at the drive thanks to the dynamic base material.
Artemis has used its expertise in the field of screening and conveying technology in harvesting machines, including the Silentium Drive (belts instead of steel chains in the combine harvester’s elevator), as well as customer feedback, to create this new type of connection. It is unique on the market and – to the benefit of farmers and contractors – makes the belt much more durable and requires significantly less maintenance.
