Application of Rubber-Fabric Belts – Silentium Drive as a Showcase Solution
Artemis rubber-fabric belts consist of one to five fabric plies with intermediate rubber layers made of NR, SBR or EPDM, as well as a rubber coating on the carrying and running side of the belt.
Rubber-fabric belts are a cost-effective drive solution for simple applications, such as sieving belts for harvesting, and are characterized by good flexibility, high tensile strength, low elongation and a long service life. For Artemis process belts, we use closed rubber-fabric belts that are supplemented with carrier or cam profiles.
A specific application example of this technology in use is our product “Silentium Drive”, which has been optimally designed for quiet and reliable operation in a variety of applications.
Silentium Drive for more power and comfort during harvesting
Our “Silentium Drive” is based on a rubber-fabric belt with parabolic cams that replaces the conventional steel roller chain. This cam belt is manufactured in two versions: endlessly wound or with open ends and a special connection method. Bolts are vulcanized into the belt to ensure an optimal connection between the steel slats and the belt.
Another challenge is posed by the high maintenance requirements of the steel roller chain used to date. If it is not regularly tightened, failures can occur and the combine harvester comes to a standstill. Wear is also a problem, because both the chain and the gear wheels have to be monitored constantly. If the combine harvester breaks down during the harvest, the availability of the parts and the replacement time are crucial. Every hour that the harvesting machine is out of action results in further costs.
The “Silentium Drive”, on the other hand, is driven by Broekema N-type drive wheels that engage with the cams of the rubber belt. The deflection is either done by a continuous roller or individual deflection wheels per belt. With our rubber belt innovation, there is no need to tighten the steel roller chain and the sprockets are replaced by almost wear-free deflection rollers.
Only a few components need to be replaced or adapted – an investment that quickly pays for itself.
Combine harvesters from all well-known manufacturers can be converted to the “Silentium Drive”.
